The Department of Psychological Sciences excels in research that has a high impact on policy and practice in the real world. Recently ranked 5th in the UK for the quality of our research, our academic team are world leaders in cognition, developmental sciences, neuroscience, and child and family psychology. Not surprisingly the history of the Department can be traced back to the beginnings of scientific study of psychology in the UK over a century ago.
